10/50 Vegetation Clearing Rule

10/50 Vegetation Clearing Code of Practice

There has been a recent introduction by the NSW Government in conjunction with the NSW Rural Fire Service of the 10/50 Vegetation Clearing Code of Practice.

The new laws allow people in a designated 10/50 Vegetation Clearing Entitlement Area to clear trees on their property within 10 metres of a home, without seeking approval. You can check here if you are in a 10/50 designated bushfire zone.

The new rule only applies to your property. You may not clear neighbouring property without that property owner’s consent. There may be other restrictions that apply, such as if your property is on a slope, or there are items of Aboriginal or cultural significance in the area. Read more about the code and these restrictions on the NSW Rural Fire Service website.
